I made two pizzas last week when we had our Snow Day. One is always a Garlic Shrimp Pizza. If I am feeding several people, I go ahead and make a second pizza. Often, it is a Sausage & Pepperoni Pizza. I have also made Potato Leek Pizza, Prosciutto Goat Cheese Pizza, and Fresh Mozzarella Basil Tomato Pizza.
For the record, my family does not like Goat Cheese, and I love it. But I continue to try and expand their horizons by offering them choices.
I had some hamburger, bacon, and cheddar cheese in the refrigerator so I decided to make a Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza for a change.
Please refer to my Garlic Shrimp Pizza post for information on pizza dough. I have a pizza stone and have developed a way of baking my pizza to more closely resemble one made in a pizza oven. The recipe listed below is for making the dough using a standard cookie sheet, but my focus here is on the topping. You just use your favorite dough and way of baking it.
Here is one pound of bacon, fried until really crispy. Take this and cut or break it up into pieces.
Here is one pound of ground beef that has been browned and drained. Add the onion and salt and pepper to taste. Sauté until the onion is tender.
Here is my pizza dough rolled out onto parchment paper and placed on the underside of a sheet pan. Again, you can prepare in a regular cookie sheet. This just demonstrates how I prepare my dough to place on a pizza stone.
Here is the dough with the sauce and meats spread evenly over the unbaked dough.
Here we are with the cheese added and ready to bake.
Here is the Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza baked and ready to eat. We just love pizza that is thick with great ingredients.
The crust was crunchy and the toppings were yummy.
Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza Serves 2 to 4 Ingredients: Prepare your favorite pizza dough recipe.  I usually make the Basic Pizza Dough recipe from Joy of Cooking.  It makes enough dough for two pizzas, which is perfect for our family.  This recipe makes one pizza. Preheat oven to 450° (or according to your pizza dough recipe instructions). Fry the bacon until crispy. Brown the ground beef and drain. Add 1/4 cup of finely minced onion, salt, and pepper, and sauté until the onion is tender. While the meat is sautéing, grate the cheese. Press pizza dough into your favorite pizza pan (we use a rectangular cookie sheet, giving us a lot of edge—we love the edges). Spread the pizza sauce onto the pizza crust evenly. Top with the meats, ensuring that they are evenly distributed all over the crust. Top with the grated Cheddar cheese. Bake according to your pizza dough recipe instructions.  My recipe takes 12 to 15 minutes.  If cooking at a high heat on a pizza stone, it will take less time. You want the dough completely baked and the top to be bubbly and slightly brown.
1 whole pizza dough for one pizza
1 cup pizza sauce
1 pound bacon, fried until crispy
1 pound ground beef, browned and drained
1/4 cup onion, finely minced
Salt
Pepper
3 cups freshly grated Sharp Cheddar Cheese
