In our home, we have family celebrations for birthdays. We never had large, elaborate parties, but have always chosen to share a meal with family. The birthday girl (or boy, in the case of my husband) gets to choose both the meal and the dessert which are made at home although we have gone out to dinner a time or two, too.
As of this week, we have 3 18-year-olds living with us. We have our twins who turned 18 last August.
Twin A (the first born) always chooses a cookie cake which she decorates herself.
Twin B (the second born) changes it up from year to year. She really loves apple pie, but chose a chocolate layer cake for her 18th birthday.
The BEST chocolate cake you will ever make is the one found on the back of the Hershey’s Cocoa container. We make 1 1/2 times the chocolate frosting recipe to make sure we have enough to completely coat the cake!
This year we have been blessed with an extra teenager in our home who turned 18 this week. Her request was for Apple Crisp which, of course, is not complete without some vanilla ice cream on top!
We hope that your home is blessed with as many wonderful children as ours! I’ll share our favorite Apple Crisp recipe later!
