Two drinks, popular in the 1980s, are making a comeback – sangrias and wine spritzers.
I used to drink both of these beverages in the Summer – back in the day. I ran across a few articles and recipes lately for some new adaptations of these former favorites.
Rather than the standard recipes, however, all of the new flavored sparkling waters and liquors, have opened up all kinds of possibilities for a wide variety of new versions of sangrias and wine spritzers.
Here is my recipe for a light and refreshing citrus white wine spritzer.
Citrus White Wine Spritzer ingredients.
I tend to favor dry and tart flavors, so I tend to choose dryer white wines which makes for a dryer and tarter spritzer. If you prefer something sweeter just choose your favorite white wine and go for it!
Thinly slice some lemon and lime segments.
Fill your glass with ice and drop one lemon and lime segment into it.
Pour about 4 ounces of wine and 2 ounces of lemon flavored sparkling water into the glass. Stir and serve.
Light. Refreshing. Yummy.
Citrus White Wine Spritzer
Makes about 6 servings
1 750 ml bottle of white wine (choose your favorite or try a Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, or Sauvignon Blanc)
12 ounces of lemon flavored sparkling water or seltzer
6 thinly sliced wedges of lemon
6 thinly sliced wedges of lime
Fill your glass with ice. Add one wedge of lemon and one wedge of lime to the glass. Add 4 ounces of wine and 2 ounces of sparkling water.
Stir and serve immediately.
