Our second college kid was home for Spring Break. That means I received a second round of special requests for Mama’s cookin’ to take back to school. The requests come in not just from my kid, but from her friends as well.
We’re taking our middle child, now known as The Duchess of Desire and Ecstasy, on a Spring Break trip to Gulfport, MS, and to New Orleans. Another round of special requests for some of Mama’s cookin’ came from her and her friends.
My blog may be Mama’s Empty Nest, but many of my kids’ friends follow it. They love seeing the pictures of their friends as babies and younger kids. But, they really love the food posts.
Here is what I have made for my Spring Break kids:
Focaccia Bread (I used this bread to make sandwiches to eat on the road to the beach.)
Orange Sweet Rolls (Recipe is in The Pioneer Woman Cooks – Food From My Frontier new cookbook. If you decide to make these, please note that the recipe makes 24 rolls not 48 as stated. Also, the icing recipe is not correct. It should read 1 pound of powdered sugar not 1 cup,and I would reduce the orange zest and juice to one orange. The icing recipe, as written, makes the rolls soggy.)
Popcorn Cake (I used Easter colored M&Ms.)
Red Velvet Cheesecake Brownies (The link to this recipe was sent to me by My Baby the Bearcat’s roommate, I am not a big Red Velvet fan, but the kids enjoyed these.)
Rice Krispies Treats (Use the recipe on the cereal box – sometimes I melt a cup of chocolate chips and spread a thin layer over the top of the Rice Krispies Treats to make them extra good.)
My kitchen table filled with Spring Break special requests.
