Today is the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, or the day that the Sun reaches its northernmost point in the sky. After today, the days start getting shorter.
We had a long and brutal Winter. We had a non-existent Spring. The days were gray, overcast, and cool through Memorial Day weekend and then BAM! A heat wave ensued, and we went straight to the 90s, the heat, the humidity, and no rain.
My basil went from puny to beautiful practically overnight. Basil loves the heat.
This is a zucchini blossom. Soon to be a fried stuffed zucchini blossom.
My Stella D’Oro Daylilies are in bloom.
A lavendar blossom.
More purple flowers.
I love Spring and Summer. They are my favorite time of year. I think I looked forward to Summer break more than my kids. It can still be busy, but it’s a different kind of busy. A more laid back and relaxed kind of busy.
Happy First Day of Summer!
